A Star Is Born

Yes, this will be a shamelessly self-promoting post, but bear with me, since I’m touting my colleague, CableFAX Daily Editor-in-Chief Amy Maclean, who makes her C-SPAN debut tomorrow night on The Communicators.

For those of you who know Amy, you realize why I am promoting her appearance on the small screen. As readily as flies are drawn to a flame, that’s how strongly Amy avoids the limelight.

Of course my other interest in pushing Amy is because I like her personally and, more important, I have tremendous respect for her professionally. She’s become a major force behind CableFAX Daily, growing the Daily’s regulatory coverage tremendously. That is not all. Each day she and the very able Chad Heiges write the entire publication as Misters Grebb and Arenstein watch with amazement and admiration. And with Multi’s Ted Hearn leaving the FCC beat this week, Amy becomes the dean of the cable regulatory circuit, at least in our mind. This should be good for more appearances on C-SPAN.

But don’t take my word for it. Watch Amy on C-SPAN Sat night (Jan 31) at 6:30 pm, or Feb 2 on C-SPAN2 at 8 am ET and 8 pm ET, (or after Sat night on the Web here) as she and Pedro Echevarria pose questions about the digital transition to another Amy, Sen Amy Klobuchar (D-Minnesota). For a first-timer on TV, our Amy does a darn good job, don’t you think?
