Expo 2007:

Gone, But not Forgotten

As always, Expo is the event of the year for cable technologists, and 2007 has been no exception. At CT, we're very fortunate to have the input and advice of some of the most prominent of those technologists - as regular columnists, on our editorial advisory board, and, most germane to the topic at hand, as bloggers on our Expo mini-site - and we've asked these tech leaders for their perceptions of the key take-aways from this year's show.

Roll call

Ron Hranac is continuing his annual practice of listing his show picks, things that struck him as particularly cool, handy or on the lines of "how come nobody thought of this sooner?" To see some of his picks, click here. Note that not all of his picks are listed online - for the full version, you'll have to wait for CT's August issue.

Outgoing Chairman of the SCTE Board Yvette Gordon-Kanouff, as seems to be her usual practice, came away from Expo '07 looking forward rather than back. She's already thinking of ET '08 and sees a need for standards, partnerships and coordination. Read her full posting on CT's Expo blog page here.

Rex Porter, as many of you already know, is deeply involved in the Loyal Order of the 704. He’s also a CT Editor Emeritus and all-around good egg. He wraps up a number of Expo and Loyal Order details here and here.

Jay Junkus is nothing if not detail-oriented, as his list of Expo take-aways demonstrates. Prominent items on his radar screen include multi-application electronic hand tools, business telephony, switched digital video, interactivity, and more. Click here for the full listing and details.

While we’ve already privately thanked our Expo bloggers for their insight and tireless efforts, we'd also like to thank them publicly here, and we ask you all to do the same - these folks all went above and beyond. Kudos all around.

Info abounds

If you couldn’t make it to the show in person, definitely check out the previously mentioned CT Expo mini-site. There you'll find features on the main events in the Hot Topics section, piles of news in the Newsroom, all the blogs and more. The Expo mini-site will continue to run through the end of August.
