CableFAX Program Awards: Best Online-Only/Mobile-Only Show
Winner: Green Porno, Sundance Channel
Talk about walking on the wild side. The lovely Isabella Rossellini schooled us in a whole new kind of sex education in this project commissioned for the Sundance Web site. Its pop culture impact is priceless. From the actress who deadpans, "I was always fascinated by the infinite, strange and scandalous ways that insects copulate," was born a series of eight totally whacked-out two-minute films about the mating habits of earthworms, flies, snails and the like. Watching a costumed Rossellini impersonate said featured insect, looking every bit like an oversized model for an Anne Geddes photo shoot, is as Web-voyeuristic as it gets. And aside from being irreverent, the shorts are mildly informational. Who knew, for example, how down and dirty mollusk foreplay can be?
