CableFAX's Best of the Web Awards is the industry's top honor in the digital space, recognizing outstanding Web sites and digital initiatives among cable programmers (networks and independents), operators, vendors and associations. The CableFAX Best of the Web Awards will also salute the cable executives behind the scenes, making these digital initiatives shine. The awards are presented by the most trusted information source in cable: CableFAX Daily and sister brands CableFAX:The Magazine and Content Business. The winners and honorable mentions will be honored at an awards event on February 26, 2009 at the Grand Hyatt, New York City.

Who Should Enter?
This program is open to cable programmers (networks and independents), operators, vendors and associations and in some cases the third party providers and agencies that service those sites.
Eligibility Requirements
Campaign Categories: To be eligible, the site, program or campaign must have taken place (either in part or full) over the last 12 calendar months (between December 1, 2007 and December 1, 2008). Some of the work must have occurred during this time, but it’s not necessary for it to be completed during the eligibility period. Your campaign/program can still be in progress in 2008 and beyond. People Categories: The achievements must have taken place in the past 12 months.

Categories
Campaign Categories
- Ad/Series of Ads - recognizing outstanding digital creative supporting a Cable program or web site, from banner ads to flash video (ad can run on your site or on other sites).
- Blog - Recognizing a Cable-branded blog, this category will honor outstanding blogs that forward a Cable show or operator's message, drive traffic and audience interest, and exploit the use of these new formats.
- Community/Social Networking - Saluting a Cable programming and operator web site for outstanding use of community building online and offering a robust social network online.
- Corporate Social Responsibility/Education – Recognizing cable operators and programmers utilizing the Web (their site and the Web in general) to inform audiences about social and/or environmental issues (ie teen drinking, political candidates, global warming).
- Education
- Design - Recognizing design excellence throughout the entire site, whether for a particular Cable program, the entire network or an operator’s site.
- E-commerce/Merchandizing - Recognizing a site's effective use of online sales of Cable program branded offerings/merchandise, from branded clothing to DVD sales through its online Store.
- Email Newsletter/s - Recognizing superior use of an electronic newsletter to extend the Cable brand onto the email platform.
- Games - Honoring interactivity and creativity through use of online games.
- Marketing Campaign - Recognizing an online marketing initiative to promote a Cable network, program or operator’s Web site, network, cable show or other initiative. This category is to recognize outstanding online marketing efforts. Campaign can include an integrated program that includes offline marketing.
- Mobile Application - Recognizing a Cable network, program or operator’s effective use of the mobile platform to enhance the brand and extend its content to existing and new audiences.
- Original Content - This category recognizes Web-exclusive programming from a network or particular show. Entry can be any format, from videos, to games to articles.
- Podcast or Videocast - The winner of this category will have set the standard for outstanding podcasting or videocasting through effective use of this technology that furthers the brand's mission.
- PR Campaign - This category will honor outstanding PR in promoting a Cable network, a particular show or operator site, using digital communications tactics. Entries can be for a specific digital PR campaign or overall digital PR strategy.
- Supplemental Web Content - This award recognizes outstanding integration of the Web with a linear show, saluting the supplemental online coverage of a show on the program’s Web site, including overall presentation and marketing of that show through supplemental content, ie interviews, archival footage, photography, historical details, etc.
- Video: Overall Use of Video - This category will take into consideration all video programming on a Cable site, whether it's advertiser video or program-branded video shows. Provide links to the site and information on each program, including target audience and viewer statistics.

How To Enter Campaign Categories:

For each entry, provide a 2–3 page synopsis of your campaign that includes:
- Goals & Objectives of Campaign/Initiative
- Budget (all budget information is

- Time Period of Campaign/Initiative
- Target Audience
- Research
- Strategy/Execution
- Evaluation of Success/Results/ROI
How To Enter People Categories:
(Please mail your entry form and supporting material)
Please include up to a 3 page (not to exceed 2,000 words) summary of the digital media executives achievements related to the category he or she is being entered into. Also include a brief career bio and any supporting materials, such as testimonials, news coverage, etc. Be sure to justify why this person deserves award with tangible examples, ie sales goals met; traffic increase due to improved editorial content, etc.

At the beginning of your 2–3 page synopsis, include the following information for all categories:

How are the entries judged?
Entries are judged by a panel of experts in the digital and entertainment marketplace, as well as by the staff of CableFAX Daily and CableFAX: The Magazine. We evaluate your entry based on the criteria listed in this brochure, including quality of website, originality, creativity and success. The “people” awards are judged on outstanding work behind the scenes.

Who is eligible to win an award?
The CableFAX Best of the Web Awards is open to all cable programmers (independent and networks), Operators and Cable Associations in North America. Additionally, PR, marketing and publicity firms and other show partners are eligible to compete on behalf of a cable client.

Where and when will the reception be held?
The winners and honorable mentions will receive their CableFAX Best of the Web Award during an during an awards event on February 26, 2009 at the Grand Hyatt, New York City.

How do I increase my chances of winning an award?
By providing a succinct summary, video clips, testimonials and other supporting material.

When will I be notified about the status of my entry?
You will be contacted by CableFAX staff regarding the status of your entry only if you are named a finalist in the awards program. Finalists are notified 30-60 days in advance of the CableFAX Best of the Web Awards Event.

Is this awards program affiliated with any industry organizations?
The CableFax Best of the Web Awards is an independent competition unaffiliated with any other cable organization. Your entries are held in strict confidence by the judges and CableFax.
Deadlines/Entry Fees
Deadlines:
All entries must be postmarked or submitted online by Wednesday, December 3, 2008. Late entry deadline is December 10, 2008.
Entry Fees:
The price of each entry is $290. Late entry surcharge of $150 per category entered. Payment in full must accompany the entry. Entry fees are not refundable.
