60. Paul XYPaul Lee Title: President, ABC Family Age: 45 Years in cable: 8 Years left in cable: “10... that’s 70 in dog years.” Why Him? With this year’s launches of “Kyle XY” and “Three Moons Over Milford,” ABC Family began its transformation in earnest from the home of sappy movies to a serious contender in what Lee has called “intelligent dramatic story-telling.” The network, which had experienced public growing pains under former owners Fox and Pat Robertson and monikers Fox Family and The Family Channel, seems finally to be coming into its own. And Lee, who moved from London to the States to help launch BBC America before joining the Family, is pushing for more original content that will infiltrate the network, its Web site and iTunes. - CAO Top personal achievement in 2006: “Launching ‘Kyle XY,’ the biggest series in the history of the channel, on ABC Family, ABC, iTunes and abcfamily.com.” Favorite city: “The best of Cape Town, LA and London.” Three things I would take with me to a deserted island: “Deirdre, Danny and Noah (‘Yeah, right Dad.’)” Favorite TV show not on my network: “Top Cat” Favorite piece of tech: Chrysler Hemi 350 Least favorite piece of tech: Internal combustion engine Click here to return to the 2006 CFAX 100 List. |
