67. Tom’s MightTom Might Title: President/CEO, Cable One Why Him? Yes, Cable One is making swift inroads pushing digital cable in its primarily rural service areas. But more about that later. As head of the country’s 10th-largest MSO, Might makes as many headlines for radiating the kind of corporate leadership and responsibility that makes the entire industry beam. This guy just seems to care more than most. When Katrina left more than 175 Cable One employees in dire straits, Might personally traveled to several Gulf Coast communities to lend a hand—and more poignantly—redirected all employees to different areas within the company without skipping a pay check. Talk to any Cable One employee, and it's hard to find anyone with a bad word to say about this guy. Customers benefit from Might’s management style, too. He has overseen a year in which Cable One chose not to raise basic rates, and another when the MSO provided customers with free digital service to help get it off the ground. The Washington Post Co. subsidiary has invested more than $500 million in upgrades in recent years and today offers 125 digital channels, 60 linear networks and a vastly improved Internet service—all backed, not surprisingly, by one of the industry’s only same-day customer service guarantees. - CAO Click here to return to the 2006 CFAX 100 List. |
