81. The Sport of Rebranding

Gavin Harvey
Title: President, Versus
Age: “Pre-VCR”

Why Him? Harvey’s busy and productive year was highlighted by the net’s Sept name change from OLN to Versus, and its attainment of the 70 million household plateau. With the new moniker came a commitment to competitive sports, and programming content including top-ranked boxing and the Cal Ripken World Series came in to supplement Tour de France and Bull Riding coverage. Broadband channel “The Player” launched, and to its all-star NHL property Versus added 26 regular season games in HD. Such initiatives thicken the ice on which Versus and Harvey skate. - CH
