360 Update: Verizon Hits Q4 Mark With Wireless, Misses With FiOS
By Steve Goldstein
Verizon was careful to draw attention to its 2 million net wireless customer additions in its fourth-quarter results, released today. These additions beat analysts' expectations, unlike FiOS additions, which came in lower than analysts hoped, according to ZDNet and Bloomberg. Verizon added 226,000 net new FiOS TV subscribers and 245,000 net new FiOS Internet customers in the fourth quarter of 2007; both numbers came in lower than some analysts expected. Verizon also lost 476,000 primary home-phone lines in the quarter; some of those customers switched to cable and some moved to wireless exclusively.
AT&T's fourth-quarter results, released last week, were also led by strong wireless numbers. [ZDNet | Bloomberg | Verizon Investor News]
