Web Winners and Digital Hotties
Those who attended the CableFAX Digital Breakfast in NYC on April 6 received a slew of advice and insight from the smartest and best cable execs working in the digital space today.
The consensus of our Digital Hot Lister honorees and Best of the Web winners was that the way to remain relevant in the digital space is to stick to your knitting, remain faithful to your brand. Others noted the similarity between cable’s traditional role of providing strong content and the emerging digital space. Traditional cable and digital advocates should be collaborating, not working in separate silos, said Discovery’s Doug Craig. Others, including Bright House Networks’ chief Nomi Bergman and Rainbow’s Mac McKean, noted cable should remember to use digital initiatives to better serve customers. Cable shouldn’t be “exploiting” the digital space as much as using it to provide a better experience for consumers, McKean said.
And of course, the CableFAX editors especially liked it when Time Warner Cable chief blogger Jeff Simmermon used his Digital Hot List acceptance speech to say he looks forward to a day when we reward those who work hard to produce well-researched, well-written content for the digital media space. We'll second that.
