— The latest update to the Pixelmetrix OTT Media Grinder (OMG) validation system is available as a free download for existing customers. The OMG simulates thousands of OTT clients (iPhone, iPad, etc.) with multiple user-defined behaviors.

— HGI _RD027-R3, “Home Gateway QoS Module Requirements,” just published by HGI, a keeper of standards for the digital home, addresses the current evolution of the home network to an IPv6 environment, and it identifies the home-gateway requirements needed to extend the HGI service-class oriented QoS approach to include IPv6. The doc is applicable to IPv4 and IPv6 networks on both the WAN and LAN sides of the home gateway, and HGI notes the updated spec considers the actual QoS problems in various broadband scenarios, including OTT services and other kinds of data traffic.

Sorrento Networks’ Optical Data Center (ODC) card, a dual-port, multirate line card that can provide 4G, 5G Infinaband, 8G, 10G and 16G WDM interfaces, uses SFP+ optics to give customers one platform for all their WDM transport needs, helping to reduce capex and opex. Equipped with encryption capabilities, the ODC card protects sensitive data as well. As part of Sorrento's GigaMux 3200 product family and due to its dual ports, the ODC card reportedly can double the capacity of an existing GigaMux 3200 system.

Verizon Terremark’s Enterprise Cloud service computing platforms are being expanded in two of the company's data-center facilities located in Dallas and London. In addition, the operator extended the federal-grade security controls previously available exclusively through the Enterprise Cloud Federal Edition to all its commercial customers, providing enterprise-class authentication and access control through the use of the customers' certificates and tokens to manage cloud resources. The Enterprise Cloud service also now includes instance-based compute and storage, letting customers pay for their cloud services per virtual machine versus reserving resource capacity.
