Deal Of The Day 11/29/12

In part to support the company’s Open Network Environment (ONE) strategy, Cisco announced plans to buy Cariden Technologies Inc., a privately held, Calif.-based network planning, design and traffic-management solutions provider for some $141 million in cash and retention-based incentives; it should close during the company’s 2Q fiscal year. According to Cisco, this deal will “allow providers to enhance the visibility, programmability and efficiency of their converged networks while improving service velocity.” Upon completion of the sale, Cariden’s employees and its tools for IP/MPLS networks will be integrated into Cisco’s Service Provider Networking Group.
