Optimum Lightpath Offers 40G Tx

Optimum Lightpath today announced the availability of its 40 gigabit (per second) optical transport service.

Developed to meet the emerging bandwidth and speed demands of its “smart community” customers, the new service is available throughout Optimum Lightpath’s entire footprint and based on a flat-rate pricing model.

Demand for 40 gigabit services has emerged due to ever-increasing needs for high capacity and low latency, particularly in the New York metropolitan area, which hosts the largest concentration of financial institutions in the country. While multiple 10 gigabit links have largely served this need to date, a move to 40 gigabit can also deliver better network efficiencies for businesses and provide a platform built to handle ongoing demand increases.

“If there is a technology need on our customers’ roadmap, it is on ours as well,” Optimum President Dave Pistacchio said in a statement. “To that end, we’ve developed a 40 gigabit optical transport service to align with our customers’ impending network upgrade strategies.”

Optimum Lightpath’s 40 gigabit optical transport service introduces several benefits for businesses, including:
•    More bandwidth
•    Unprecedented speed
•    Improved efficiencies
•    Scalability
•    Simple pricing
•    Security
•    Resilience

The new service protects business data by providing ultra low-latency, high-security, and high-speed optical services based on wave division multiplexing technology and is positioned to support 40 Gigabit Ethernet when it becomes standardized.
