Dell'Oro Ranks 2Q Optical Transport
The Dell'Oro Group reported that the 2Q optical transport equipment market grew to $3.5 billion, a new high.
The analyst group ranked the top three vendors in the quarter as Alcatel-Lucent, Huawei and Nortel, garnering nearly 50 percent of the market between them. "The optical equipment market had another strong quarter with revenues growing 13 percent, far exceeding expectations," said Jimmy Yu, a Dell'Oro director, in a statement.
Yu stated that DWDM sales grew 24 precent, with 40 Gbps, long-haul capacity being a driver. "There are six vendors shipping 40 gig wavelengths," he stated. "The leading vendor...continued to be Nokia Siemens Networks, with Nortel following closely in second."
