Pipeline Profile: Amanda Walton

Chapter Member of the Year

Title: Regional Fleet Coordinator, Comcast

Broadband Background: Amanda Walton has been with Comcast for fifteen years. After six years in marketing, she spent four years supporting the MSO's upgrade efforts. She is now in her fifth year with fleet management, based in Comcast's Vancouver, WA, system headquarters.

Congrats on two counts: Cascade winning Chapter of the Year, and your being honored as SCTE member of the year. Could you tell us what your chapter achieved over the past year?

This past year the Cascade Range Chapter surpassed all the goals that were set. The CRC also received the Overall Professional Development award due to Certification Testing done by Bend Broadband. A scholarship was set up as well as a charitable contribution made to Trauma Intervention Program. We worked hard on distributing a monthly newsletter, held training sessions and had yet another successful NW Tech Days.

What has been your role in the chapter this year, and over the past several years?

I am on my third term as Chapter Secretary.

How has your involvement in the chapter impacted your professional work at Comcast?

First, without the support from management, I would not be able to devote my time to help make the CRC successful. By my already having daily contact with the technicians, I find it easier to get them signed up for training classes and seminars. It helps to have a "go to" person within their company.

What are the biggest challenges in your work in fleet management?

One of my biggest challenges is keeping the vehicles up and running in a safe manner for our technicians and making sure their needs are met.

What do you find most satisfying in your work?

That it's always different every day, whether I am visiting different systems throughout the market or prepping new vehicles for disbursement.
