Burris Named Shapp Scholar

The SCTE has named Sean Burris, a senior at Northwest Christian School in Phoenix, the 2008 recipient of the $20,000 Milton Jerrold Shapp Memorial Scholarship. The high school standout, who will graduate on May 22, is the son of Don and Lori Burris. Don Burris is a project manager with Corning Gilbert in Glendale, AZ.

The scholarship, awarded to a high school senior son or daughter of a telecommunications industry employee, honors the memory of Shapp, who was a cable telecommunications pioneer and a former governor of Pennsylvania. Eligible students must desire a degree relevant to the telecommunications industry. The scholarship is funded by Motorola.
