SCTE Honors Singh

The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) has announced that Sandip Singh of Rogers Communications is the 2010 honoree of the Young Canadian Engineering Professional of the Year Award.

The second annual award recognizes outstanding technical achievements and contributions made to the advancement of the cable telecommunications industry by a young Canadian engineering professional.

Singh, 30, of Brampton, Ontario, is a digital architect with Rogers. After beginning his career with Nortel in 1999, Singh joined the Rogers engineering team in 2005 as the architect of advanced video technology.

While at Rogers, he has been responsible for developing architectural solutions for Switched Digital Video (SDV), tru2way, VOD, IPTV, home networking, and software applications; designing and overseeing implementation of large-scale projects and conformance to Rogers’ architectural guidelines; large-scale budget forecasts and allocations for strategic Rogers video deployment initiatives; and vendor relationship development and management.

Over the past year, Singh’s most significant achievements include being an architectural lead of SDV deployment at Rogers and being a prominent player in the organization’s long-term IPTV and video services strategy.

“Sandip has been performing MSO industry-leading technology development and deployment initiatives for more than 10 years in both the vendor and service provider arenas," said Singh’s nominator for the award, Christopher Skarica, CTO, North American MSO and Cable, Huawei Technologies.

Singh will be formally presented with the award at SCTE Canadian Summit 2010, in Toronto March 9-10.
