Comcast Media Center Adds Four Operators to VOD Distribution Service

The Comcast Media Center announced this week that Lebanon Telecommunications, Midcontinent Communications, Sunflower Broadband and Wave Broadband have signed up to use the Comcast Media Center’s (CMC) national video on demand (VOD) content management and distribution service. The new affiliates join eight additional MSOs in selecting the CMC to manage customized packages of VOD programming from a wide variety of TV networks and other sources.

“The CMC’s VOD platform allows operators to enhance their VOD libraries with content that is personally relevant to each of their customers,” stated Gary Traver, Chief Operating Officer for the CMC. “We are looking forward to working with each of our new affiliates on expanding their VOD services through our platform, which features a number of cutting–edge enhancements that have increased its capacity and remote management capabilities

The CMC, which currently encodes and delivers an average of 3,600 episodes (content assets) and 1,200 hours of VOD content per month, offers content providers and operators a range of options for creating, managing and distributing their VOD assets, from standard scheduling to quick-turnaround delivery. The CMC, which is a business unit of Comcast Cable, creates and validates meta-data in-house, including scrubbing and translation services, allowing it to meet multiple headend, server and IPG requirements.
