SMB Spending Grows in Australia
New York-based Access Markets International (AMI) Partners estimates that Australian small to medium businesses will spend more than US $1.8 billion on Internet-related technologies in 2008, up 5 percent from 2007.
"Over 60 percent of the current Internet spending is devoted to Intranet, web hosting and development-related categories, and the remainder is spent on Internet-access areas," said AMI-Partners analyst Pompa Das Gupta in a statement.
According to Gupta, several factors lead Australia to be a leading country in the adoption of these technologies: low population density, isolation from international markets and distance between domestic population centers.
