RGB Unveils Details of Next Generation QAM Technology

At the annual Cable-Tec Expo conference, RGB Networks is releasing details of the QAM technology it is developing to meet the cable industry’s requirement for a next-generation converged multiservice access platform (CMAP) capable of delivering video, voice and data services using a fraction of the space, power and cooling required by the multiple devices operators currently use to deliver these services.

One of the key CMAP requirements calls for a substantial increase in the number of QAM channels per port when compared to current generation QAM modulators. As RGB’s high-density Simulcast Edge Processor (SEP) did for analog video processing, this technology will change the operational methods of cable operators by lowering expenditures related to service realignments.



RGB’s advanced QAM technology will leverage the hardware used in its Video Multiprocessing Gateway (VMG), a chassis-based video processing solution with extensive redundancy features. By leveraging this unique hardware, RGB will provide operators with a carrier-class CMAP solution that exceeds the reliability of current generation edge QAMs.

RGB will be displaying its prototype QAM solution in its booth at Cable-Tec Expo.
