Google Demos Karaoke App At Its I/O Conference

Stingray Digital, a Montreal-based media and technology company, says its new The Karaoke Channel TV App, an app that turns TV sets into high-definition karaoke machines, is being demoed at the Google I/O Conference on Google TV. The app is designed and optimized for the large screen experience and will deliver karaoke videos to TVs through Internet streaming in full 1080p HD quality.

The technology behind the app will instantly stream content to TVs connected to the Internet via computers, game consoles, set-top boxes or Web enabled TVs, to take advantage of The Karaoke Channel's library of 8,000 licensed songs. The entire catalog will be available by subscription.

Availability and pricing of The Karaoke Channel TV App will be announced in the near future.

The Karaoke Channel, with a library of more than 18,000 karaoke songs, is available as a video on demand (VOD) service, online with The Karaoke Channel online community and download store, and as a mobile app for iPhone and iPod touch. Service providers offering The Karaoke Channel VOD include Comcast, Verizon, AT&T, Charter, Cox, Rogers, Shaw, Videotron, Cogeco and Virgin Media.
