Canada’s Rogers Communications and Amsterdam’s Gemalto collaborated on mobile payment solutions currently in pilot testing and coming to market this year on Rogers NFC-enabled devices; the solutions will be secured by Gemalto’s digital security technology. Rogers will deploy the UpTeq NFC, Gemalto’s EMV-ready, high-end SIM-UICC solution, to store and secure consumers credentials and card data required to make payments with NFC-enabled mobile devices. Rogers is deploying the UpTeq NFC to secure payment credentials stored on the high-end SIM for new mobile payment services that are expected to launch in Canada later this year; it will leverage the card’s onboarding flexibility for the future addition of tap-and-go services like coupon redemption, loyalty programs, transit and other digital identification. The UpTeq NFC secure device, which has an identical form factor as a conventional SIM, is part of Gemalto’s UpTeq LTE offer, and fully compliant over LTE networks. T The software application and the UpTeq NFC device have both successfully achieved the compliance assessment and security testing certification in accordance with MasterCard and Visa’s highest security requirements…Minn.-based Digi International and Deutsche Telekom are working together to provide solutions to access and control remote devices used in machine-to-machine (M2M) applications throughout Europe. Digi will integrate Deutsche Telekom’s industrial-grade SIM cards into its wireless gateways and routers and M2M SIM management functionalities into the iDigi Device Cloud. The partners also are integrating the SIM management functionalities of Deutsche Telekom’s M2M Service Portal into the iDigi Device Cloud, allowing customers to manage their devices and SIM cards in one central location…Encore Networks inked a distribution agreement with M2M managed services provider Wyless, which will Wyless will offer Encore’s family of routers for a broad range of cellular M2M apps. Typical Wyless customer applications include security systems, telematics and fleet management, industrial networking, parking meters, remote healthcare, data continuity, digital signage, kiosks, ATMs and ePOS terminals…Norton by Symantec announced new partnerships that bring Norton online security to public Wi-Fi networks in more than 15,000 U.S. food and beverage locations in the United States. Partnering with service providers Hi-Tech Wi-Fi, OneWiFi, The WiFi Company, Contingent Network Services and Sputnik, Norton ConnectSafe (formerly Norton DNS) will be integrated into the Wi-Fi platform. The company also released Norton Hotspot Privacy that delivers a secure personal virtual private network (VPN) for consumers using public Wi-Fi on Macs and PCs. It reportedly keeps usernames, passwords and other sensitive data safe from "eavesdroppers" and identity thieves who can capture this information over Wi-Fi networks…
