Earlier today, Lowe's and Verizon said customers of the home-improvement retailer's Iris smart home solution now will be able to use Verizon's network for remote monitoring and management of their homes. Available to U.S.-based Iris customers beginning Nov. 21, Verizon will be Lowe's exclusive provider of wireless connectivity. Launched in July, Iris allows homeowners to monitor and control their homes from anywhere via a smartphone or tablet. The new Verizon wireless connection available via USB modem will connect to the Iris Smart Hub, helping to eliminate the need for homeowners to have a wired broadband connection. The USB modems will be sold on Lowes.com. Lowe's offers three different Iris starter kits that can all be paired with the Verizon wireless USB modem to facilitate connection with the Iris Hub for remote home monitoring and management…Wedge Networks, a provider of unified, real-time content security and intelligence for high-performance networks, launched a U.S.-based Reseller Channel Program aimed at generate new revenue opportunities for channel partners that are selling into the corporate enterprise, government organization and service provider markets. Wedge is offering a 45-day trial with fast technology validation to its channel partners; dubbed the "Instant-On Program," it provides resellers and end-user customers with access to the entire Wedge security suite, including data loss prevention, anti-virus, spam, malware and content filtering. When run as a WedgeOS VMware virtual appliance, the solution provides either a perimeter security gateway or security from the Cloud as a Wedge StarGate Server…At a show in Africa this morning, Alvarion Ltd. unveiled a new component in its 4Motion network solution – the BreezeCOMPACT High Power base station – to enable cost-effective deployment scenarios for operators needing to efficiently reach indoor users in dense urban environments. The addition allows operators to create a new deployment scenario by providing direct indoor connectivity, helping to eliminate site-acquisition and installation costs associated with outdoor CPEs in crowded spaces.
