EGT Debuts Closed-Loop Transcoding

At Expo, EGT will highlight the introduction of its VIPr Closed-loop Transcoding technology. It is designed to accept MPEG-4HD or MPEG-2HD content and output either MPEG-2 CBR for switched digital video applications or MPEG-2 closed-loop statistically multiplexed outputs for denser packaging of HD content into QAMs. EGT's VIPr will also downconvert HD content to SD to satisfy legacy SD-only set-top boxes.
