Infinera Pushes Optical Limits

Infinera is displaying its ILS2 line system, with up to 160 DWDM channels in the C-band. The company is also demonstrating 100 Gigabit Ethernet transmission live, using a 100 GbE Tributary Adapter Module running in a production DTN system. The ILS2 employs a 25 GHz grid to pack 160 DWDM channels in the C-band, for total capacity of 1.6 Tbps when used with Infinera DTN line cards, with capacity of 100 Gbps per line card. The company hopes the future introduction of photonic integrated circuits (PICs) will boost its capacity to 8 Tbps. (Expo booth 123)
