Nokia Siemens to Deploy in Taiwan
Chunghwa Telecom, the largest telecommunications operator in Taiwan, will increase the capacity of its 3G network to improve transmission speeds and expand coverage. The €72 million contract encompasses technology and services from Nokia Siemens Networks to facilitate speeds of up to 2 Mbps in the uplink and 14 Mbps in the downlink. Chunghwa Telecom will trial Nokia Siemens Networks' Internet High Speed Access (I-HSPA) network. The trial, which marks the first such initiative in the Asia-Pacific region, is intended to pave the way for a smooth migration to a flat all-IP architecture.
