A Living Billboard for The Sportsman Channel
More than a few children are named Espn in honor of the network, although guys called Spike usually get that moniker well after birth.
The last time we checked, ESPN knew of some 30 or so children that were named for the all-sports programmer. Somewhere in this great land there are kids of both sexes existing with names like Espy, Esp, E and plain, old Espn. Honest. [Reports that there's a kid somewhere in Oklahoma with the first name Espn and a midde name of Classic have not been confirmed.]
With that in mind, we're guessing it didn't take too long for Mark Kang, VP, Affiliate Relations for The Sportsman Channel, to convince his wife Pearl that their first born (below) should be named as a tribute to Mark's employer, the all-hunting, all-fishing network. Thus Hunter Christensen Kang was welcomed to this world last Friday.
So, now that the Kangs have drawn a line in the sand, we expect that we'll be seeing kids named Ironchef (obviously by parents with ties to Food Network) or Televisionforwomen (Lifetime), Familyfriendly (Hallmark Channel), Boxy (HBO) and Emmy (every network in the country, but mostly AMC).
BIG GAME HUNTER: Little Hunter Christensen Kang, born July 18, has no idea that her first name makes her the newest and prettiest advertisement for The Sportsman Channel. Her dad, Mark, is VP, Aff Relations, for TSC.
