Comcast's Roadside Green Rally
Going Green: At the start of Comcast Colorado’s first Screen to Green rally in Denver on Saturday, June 28, volunteers Grant Marsik, City of Denver’s Mary Ellen McCarry (top photo, center) and Comcast Spotlight’s Katie Monahan urge motorists to turn right, where they lined up to discard old electronics equipment in an eco-friendly way. As they waited, they learned about the issue, courtesy of sign carriers standing along "education alley" (seen in the second photo). The first sign in the alley reads: "Do you know... Americans scrap about 400 million units per year of consumer electronics or e-waste." The effort netted more than 70K lbs of e-waste, including nearly 1,000 screens and computer monitors from some 500 participants. In addition to Comcast and the City of Denver, sponsors included Planet Green and e-waste recyclers Waste Management and GRX.
