Secret’s Out—News Corp to Launch 24/7 National Sports Net
The not-so-secret secret is out: come Aug 17, Fox Sports will launch a 24/7 national sports network. The net will be called Fox Sports 1 and replace Speed, which has a distribution of 85 mln homes. Fox has been buying up sports rights for years. “We’ve amassed enough live events where we can have scale, we can have significance and we can be a major player in the market,” said Randy Freer, co-pres and COO, Fox Sports Media Group.
