You have to love the irony. In a week where a fair number of people lost a lot of money in the stock market (the Fed called it a “market correction”), the actress who portrays Maid Marian in BBC America’s new Robin Hood series (which premieres tomorrow at 9pm ET) will ring the closing bell today at the NASDAQ. A live Webcast of the NASDAQ Closing Bell will be available here at 4pm ET. [Scroll down for the MarketSite webcam at the bottom of the page.]
Yes, the series is called Robin Hood, but it seems that early reviews agree that 20-year-old actress Lucy Griffiths has the sauciest lines in the 13-part series that mixes the classic tale with some modern ways of thinking and acting for a darned good romp.
Griffiths’ Marian is equal parts ingénue and liberated woman, as she makes Robin work for her affections. She also can defend herself verbally and physically, flinging the occasional stone at the noggin of a bad guy (which, in the case of this series, is usually a money-grubbing government official or local landed gentry, not unlike some of the types she might encounter at the NASDAQ today in New York).
