On April 17 Sundance Channel kicks off its new prime-time Tuesdays eco-block, THE GREEN, TV's first regularly scheduled programming block dedicated to environmental issues. The block debuts with an original documentary series, Big Ideas for a Small Planet.
Episode 1 of the series, Big Ideas: Fuel, features Joel Woolf, founder and inventor of Veg Powered Systems, an Ojai, CA-based company that converts vehicles to a dual-tank system with bio-diesel fuel — used vegetable oil and diesel fuel so the driver can choose one or toggle between both sources — as a cheaper, enviro-friendly alternative to regular gas-powered vehicles.
CableWorld editor Seth Arenstein meets the alternative fuel enthusiast to find out more. Seth and Sundance Channel president and CEO Larry Aidem also take a spin in Woolf's converted car to see (and smell!) how the technology works.
