CableFAX Program Awards: Best Video on Demand Program/Special

Winner: Carolina on Demand: High School Sports, Time Warner Cable

As many a dedicated parent can tell you, high school sports is where the action’s really at. So CableFAX: The Magazine offers three cheers for Time Warner Cable for providing coverage not only of statewide championship-level games for sports-hungry fans in the Carolinas but for some of the critical weekly matches the teams must navigate to get to the playoffs. Partnering with the North Carolina High School Athletic Association and the North Carolina Coaches Association, Time Warner delivers a high school sports fan’s dream with coverage of boys’ and girls’ basketball, wrestling, volleyball, lacrosse and more than 190 hours of football before the final games even begin. We also salute Time Warner’s sportsmanlike conduct. Not only does the MSO offer Carolina On Demand free to digital subscribers in the Carolinas, but also provides critical funding to the NCHSAA. Go team.

Fast Facts
  • More than 200,000 streams have been tabulated for high school sports on Carolina On Demand.

  • This year Carolina On Demand will also produce all four NCHSAA girls soccer championships.

Honorable Mention:
Activity TV, Comcast/Center City Film & Video: We applaud an on-demand channel that empowers kids to get off the couch and try something new. Activity TV’s most popular category, Magic, offers short segments including "Telepathic Crayons" and "Ghostly Straw" that children can pause and rewind until they master tricks with which they can then dazzle their parents.
