Harmonic to Debut Internet and Mobile TV Solution at IBC
At IBC 2008, Harmonic will demonstrate a solution for delivery of video content over the Internet to a variety of devices, including TV sets, PCs, personal media players and mobile devices. The end-to-end demonstration includes technologies from Harmonic, Advanced Digital Broadcast, Amino, PeerTV and Stream Group; it encompasses encoding, transcoding, streaming, middleware and client devices including the Nokia N95 mobile phone.
In other Harmonic news, the company has introduced the StreamLiner 2000 Flash memory video servers. The latest addition to the StreamLiner product family is designed to enable operators to optimize throughput and provide more concurrent streams for popular content at regional hubs, while reducing price per stream. The new Flash-based models are easily integrated with the company's Armada content distribution network (CDN) management system and provide a unified on-demand streaming platform easily tailored to accommodate popular and long-tail content delivery.
