Internet TV company Veoh’s stated desire is to “set audiences free” by giving them “a limitless marketplace of compelling or informative television programming for wherever and whenever they choose to watch.” Veoh serves both consumers and producers of Internet video content. VeohTV, described by the company as a “free DVR for Web video,” enables Web users to watch video from “thousands of websites,” including the major TV networks’ streaming sites, via a full-screen application. The company’s other facet, Veoh.com, serves as a video hosting and sharing site for large content producers such as major studios, as well as independent producers.
In this interview, Veoh VP, strategy and business development, Francis Costello talks about the potential for advertising in what he deems “still a very new market.” He says there aren’t standards for ad units and tracking yet, but once they’re set, personalized video recommendations from companies like Veoh will enable advertisers to reach the right consumers.
