Raystream Compresses Online HD Video

Raystream is offering a free trial of its HD video compression service to any business offering HD video content online, beginning December 16. Raystream’s proprietary video compression technology drastically decreases the file size of HD videos - up to 90 percent, with an average of approximately 70 percent - with no loss in the quality or clarity of the HD video, according to the company.

By reducing file sizes, Raystream provides bandwidth savings to HD video content providers, while bringing an end to buffering and stopping of the video during play. This innovation from Raystream can be used by businesses for streaming previously recorded HD video files, as well as for live streaming of HD video in real time – and even for full HD 3D video.

In addition, Raystream announced an independent international property rights management law firm conducted a thorough investigation of Raystream’s algorithm and has issued an opinion letter verifying that all aspects of Raystream’s software and technology are in compliance with the GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL) held by the Free Software Foundation.

Raystream’s compression algorithm is built on the x264 encoder licensed by CoreCodec, making it compliant with the worldwide standard format for video output. This allows for seamless integration of compressed videos into existing environments, and for standard video player support.
