CableFAX executive editor Mike Grebb recently met with Discovery Communications Inc. president and CEO David Zaslav at DCI headquarters in Silver Spring, MD.

In part 1 of their interview, Zaslav—who joined DCI from NBC Universal in January—discusses his big vision for the company, why he's investing $50 million into the Planet Green channel launch/eco-initiative and why Planet Earth signals a new direction for the company's programming initiatives.

And don't miss part 2 of our interview, in which Zaslav discusses layoffs and restructuring, his digital media goals and other plans to usher in a new age of Discovery.
