Why Them? Granted, there are a lot of great CFOs in the cable industry. But when it comes to overall perceptions on Wall Street, the CFOs at the 2 top MSOs simply wield more influence than any of their peers. When it comes to the cable industry, what’s good for the balance sheets of Comcast and Time Warner Cable is… well, good for everyone. Mike Angelakis keeps the books covering 24.2 million cable subscribers, 90,000 employees and $24.9 billion in revenue. And what’s more, he will be even more important in ’08 when he becomes full CFO in the wake of John Alchin’s retirement at the end of this year. John Martin, meanwhile, was one of the chief engineers involved in spinning off Time Warner Cable into its own publicly traded entity last year… and his stellar performance in that arena convinced newly promoted CEO Jeff Bewkes to make him the CFO of all Time Warner starting Jan 1. Both Angelakis and Martin have their work cut out for them in ’08. And the industry will be watching. MG
